Treatments Offered At S.M.A.R.T. Chiropractic

The new medically based chiropractic approach to health care is holistic and preventative, without all of that hocus-pocus you may have experienced from other chiropractors. Here at S.M.A.R.T. Chiropractic, we won’t try to sell you “magic supplements”, “magic water”, or any other gimmicks. We deal in the science of chiropractic sports medicine… period.

Chiropractic Adjustment

One of the main tools that chiropractors use for the treatment of conditions arising from dysfunction of the neuromusculoskeletal system is the chiropractic adjustment. The chiropractic adjustment mainly addresses joint dysfunction which often leads to pain in that area and could lead to nerve dysfunction. This can occur due to either dysfunction with the joint complex itself, or the surrounding musculature.

The chiropractors at S.M.A.R.T. Chiropractic utilize a diversified adjustment technique. This technique incorporates the most effective procedures from the many different chiropractic disciplines and is extremely effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Never in the history of chiropractic have we been able to provide the level of help and expertise that exists today. These newer correction methods are even safer, more comfortable, and more effective than ever before!

In addition to using our hands to correct restrictions in the joints, our chiropractors have been trained to use other tools for specific situations. The Activator, for example, is very gentle, but effective, and is useful in patients that cannot tolerate the regular chiropractic adjustment. SOT Blocks are implemented in situations where the pelvis is misaligned and the patient cannot tolerate the side posture adjustment. These blocks are positioned specifically to allow your pelvis to gently settle into the correct position while you lay down. These alternatives allow people of all ages to enjoy the benefits of chiropractic!

Myofascial Release Techniques

Myofascial Release Techniques

At S.M.A.R.T. Chiropractic, we utilize a wide variety of state of the art soft tissue techniques such as Dynamic Motion Therapy (DMT). These are tissue system/movement based techniques that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly, safely, and permanently with these techniques. You name it, we can treat it!

Graston Technique

Above and beyond myofascial release techniques, lies the Graston Technique, which utilizes patented instruments to help mobilize and break up scar tissue and restrictions that affect normal function. Graston is extremely effective in treating post-surgical patients, both speeding their recovery, and even reducing the size of post-surgical scars! Why is scar tissue such a problem? Because scar tissue is dense, tough, inflexible, and limits the range of motion, in many instances causing pain. Break it up, and the dysfunction goes away. There aren’t many chiropractors who use this innovative and unique technique because it is very time intensive.

Cold LASER Therapy

Laser Therapy

LASER Therapy is the application of an amplified beam of photon energy into the tissue. This can be done at any frequency, but current research places the most therapeutic wavelengths at roughly 650nm and 800nm, or red light and infrared light.

Saturating muscle, ligament, tendon, or even bone with light results in increased rates of healing and decreased inflammation.

Typically, the more intense the beam, the less treatment time needed. Using cold laser after an injury means you will not only heal faster, but better, with less scar tissue formation. We use 500mW lasers using AlGalnP and AlGaAs diodes producing both red and infrared light simultaneously. Because our lasers use a pulsed method, there is no worry about overheating tissue, hence the term “cold” laser. And it is completely pain free!

Rehabilitation

Since Rehabilitation is in our name, at S.M.A.R.T. Chiropractic we take our rehab very seriously! First we loosen up tight dysfunctional muscles… then we loosen up stiff joints… and then it all goes back the way it was. That’s what happens when you don’t rehab correctly. We take the time to teach our patients specific exercises geared towards strengthening and retraining your body to combat a recurring problem. These exercises can usually be performed anywhere, including the comfort of your own home. Your rehabilitation program will change and progress as you do. Our goal is to make you better… faster.

As a Personal Trainer and Massage Therapist it is always good to know a Chiropractor I can trust to send my clients to when something goes beyond my limits. Dr. Holt is one of those Chiropractors I trust a 100% and would refer any of my clients to.

Nutritional Supplements

Many people ask us whether they should be taking supplements. This truly does vary on a case by case basis, and requires both careful planning and a complete understanding of human physiology. Supplements are not only important in the healing process but also in the prevention of disease. But one must be wary in today’s world because “supplements” are not regulated by the FDA, and their purity, potency, and even safety can vary significantly from one product to another. The supplements we provide are always of the highest quality, subject to exceptionally strict standards, and regulated by governing bodies within the United States.
